Polyelectrolytes
This name refers to numerous synthetic organic polymers, which are water-soluble and characterized by a long chain with a high molecular mass.
They are the main coagulation auxiliaries. In effluent purification, the most used flocculants are anionic flocculants, while cationic flocculants are used for effluents containing paints and sludge.

Flocculants that have a positive (cationic) or negative/neutral (anionic) ionic charge. They are available in powder or emulsion form.
Liquid/solid separation processes in primary or wastewater treatment (flotation, sedimentation, thickening, sludge dewatering).
Paper, mining, tanning, textile, chemical, petroleum, petrochemical, pharmaceutical and cosmetic industries.
Increased sedimentation rate, more compact set-up and more effective sludge dewatering, decrease in final effluent turbidity, widening of the useful pH range, decrease in required coagulant doses.
